Mandar Hill stands in Bounsi block of Banka district. The Papaharni tank lies at its foot, while Jain shrines occupy the summit. Hindu tradition associates the hill with the churning of the ocean. The Banka district account describes both Hindu and Jain pilgrimage here; the mythological association is distinct from the physical hill and its shrines.
