BIHAR / STATE LEVEL
One projection, six dates.
These estimates describe the state as a whole on 1 March of each selected year. All six years, including 2011, are figures in the projection report; they are not new Census observations.
Reported median age: 22.65 years · reported age dependency: 652 per 1,000 people aged 15–59.
What these numbers mean
Age dependency compares the number of children aged 0–14 and adults aged 60 or older with the number of people aged 15–59. For example, 652 per 1,000 means approximately 652 people in those two age groups for every 1,000 people aged 15–59. It is an age ratio, not a count of people who depend financially on someone else.
Median age is the age at which half of the projected population is younger and half older. The bars show the projected population in each age band, using the source's male and female categories; longer bars represent more people. All years here are projections from the 2019 report, including 2011.

Broad age-group shares are calculated from the source's rounded five-year groups. They may differ slightly from the report's separately rounded percentages. The 0–1 category is not repeated because it is already included in 0–4. The reported dependency ratio compares people aged 0–14 and 60+ with those aged 15–59; it is not a measure of employment or financial dependence.
